Early Signs of Pregnancy: Symptoms from the First Two Weeks
Becoming pregnant can be a wonderful time for a woman, but it also brings many different changes to a woman’s body and lifestyle. During the ovulation and implantation processes the hormonal balance in a woman’s body change, which can produce many different early signs of pregnancy. Unfortunately many of these signs are hard to spot in the first two weeks because they are very similar to the signs of a period, but some women are able to see these symptoms of a pregnancy as they pay attention to their bodies.
Early signs of pregnancy in the first two weeks include sore breasts, cramping, bloating, constipation, a change in discharge, or having to go to the bathroom more often. In the first two weeks you may see these as implantation takes place. You may also see spotting during this time. If you notice changes in your body that you have not seen or felt before, you may be pregnant. Although many of these are also indicative of getting your period, several of these (especially sore breasts) may indicate a pregnancy. It is probably worth watching for other early signs of pregnancy if it is possible you could be pregnant.
As the hormones are changing rapidly during the first two weeks of pregnancy, a woman may feel much more fatigued or may experience drastic mood swings. Early pregnancy signs can also include changes that affect a woman’s lifestyle more, such as slight (or not so slight!) nausea, headaches, faintness, or dizziness. A woman may also find that she has a heightened sense of smell, and even can have food cravings or aversions as early as the first two weeks. Many women do not see these signs, however, until several weeks later. But if you think you may be pregnant, you can take comfort in the fact that some women do notice the difference in their bodies and lives and can guess that they are pregnant early. Of course the best signal that a woman is pregnant is missing her period. If this happens and you have noticed several of these early signs of pregnancy, get a test or go to the doctor to confirm the pregnancy.
